STILL LIVES — ART WEEK 2024 AT SUBTILE

From 21 November to 1 December 2024, Marie De Decker took part in Still Lives, a collective exhibition presented at Subtile in Luxembourg during Art Week.

The works brought together bio-based materials and contemporary gilding techniques. Gold was not used as a decorative finish, but as a means of guiding light, revealing relief and altering the perception of matter.

Within the collective presentation, the pieces entered into dialogue with different practices and scales. Their open structures, reflective surfaces and shadows extended beyond their material limits, inviting a slower and more attentive form of perception.

This presentation marked a stage in the artist’s research into natural forms, memory and transformation. Rather than fixing matter into a stable image, the works remained perceptually active, changing with the position of the viewer and the light of the space.
