ALMA & ARCADIA — An Immersive Experience in Paris
ALMA & ARCADIA
On 9 April 2026, ALMA & ARCADIA took over an apartment overlooking the Louvre for a day of exhibitions, encounters, and conversations. Presented in collaboration with Kretz Family Real Estate & William Page, the project was conceived as an open solo presentation centred on the world of Marie De Decker, within a scenography devised by curator Amandine Maroteaux.
The works were not arranged as elements added to an existing décor. They followed the lines of the architecture, altered perspectives, and introduced different rhythms into the domestic spaces. Gold, projected shadows, and openwork forms shifted the perception of volume, transforming the apartment into an evolving structure.
The project thus explored how a place might be inhabited without being fixed. The interior was neither a temporary gallery nor the representation of an ideal home. It became a space of relationships, activated by the works, the light, the movement of visitors, and the conversations taking place within it. This approach extends Marie De Decker’s practice, in which the artwork is not conceived as a closed object, but as a field of perception in constant motion.
Several invited contributors expanded this dialogue between art and the domestic environment: Pierre Cornette de Saint Cyr for modern art, Dan Yeffetfor design, Benjamin Pelletier for ceramics, and Ferreira De Sa for textiles. Their contributions shared a common attention to material, to the gestures of making, and to the way a form takes its place within a space.
Through this spatial presentation, ALMA & ARCADIA offered less a setting to be contemplated than an experience to be explored: a place in which artworks, architecture, and everyday uses remained in balance, without any one of them being reduced to illustrating another.
