RÉVÉLATIONS 2025 — GOLD WITHIN SPACE

From 21 to 25 May 2025, Marie De Decker presented her work at Révélations, the international biennial organised by Ateliers d’Art de France beneath the restored glass roof of the Grand Palais in Paris.

Her individual presentation at stand K5 brought together works in which gilding no longer covered an existing support, but participated directly in the construction of form.

The sculptures unfolded as open structures crossed by light, shadow and emptiness. Motifs of feathers and scales, informed by forms observed in the mangrove of Poudre d’Or, gathered and dispersed throughout the space. Their repetition did not create ornament, but a shifting organisation recalling the interdependence of living systems.

This presentation marked an important stage in the development of the artist’s practice. Gold appeared as a medium of revelation: a line capable of guiding the eye, altering the perception of architecture and making the tension between fragility and permanence perceptible.

Light played a constitutive role. As visitors moved around the works, their density, radiance and relationship to the walls changed. Their shadows extended the forms beyond their material limits, producing a second image that remained temporary and unstable.

Within Révélations, this research entered into dialogue with contemporary practices involving metal, textiles, glass, wood and ceramics. The 2025 edition brought together 550 creators from 35 countries and welcomed 45,136 visitors.

More than a presentation of technical knowledge, the exhibition affirmed an autonomous visual language situated between sculpture, installation and the transformed gestures of gilding.
