Un geste d’or pour la Fondation Cancer

 

 

In December 2023, Marie De Decker took part in Nuit Blanche, a charity evening held in Luxembourg in support of the Fondation Cancer.

For the event, the artist donated a handcrafted wooden box covered in 23.5-carat rose gold, completed over the course of two months. The work sold at auction for €1,700—41% above its estimate—and the full amount was donated to the Fondation Cancer.

 

Beyond the result of the sale, this gesture placed the work within a broader movement of solidarity and transmission. The precious material did not act as a sign of display, but as a means of making visible the care extended towards others.

This contribution was also rooted in a personal history, in memory of two loved ones who passed away from the disease.
