In Cantir, an 18th-century jug is removed from its former use and held in a state of suspension. The gold structure does not surround it as ornament: it supports the object, exposes it to gravity and makes the fragility of its balance perceptible.
The work extends the object’s memory without attempting to restore it. Between material presence and the disappearance of its original function, Cantir opens a space in which inheritance can be observed, displaced and transmitted differently.
